Disclosure of Copyright Information

Due to events with a former client, I have found it necessary to add this additional section to my web site to inform potential clients of Copyright regulations.

It is a recognized aspect, that professionals who work in the Arts/Design fields copyright their work. Musicians copyright their songs, painters copyright their paintings, movie studios copyright the movies that they produce, architects hold the copyrights to their designs, etc. This is done to protect the professionals and the pubic both, the professionals from having their name and credibility damaged (as well as financial losses) and the public from receiving goods that are substandard.

Also, for professionals who work in the Arts/Design fields our "portfolio" of work is our method of advertising, hence, the importance of our ability to control how our work is being used. If a client wishes to "own" the copyright to work that has been "authored" by the artist/designer, then pricing of the work is substantially different.

In the photography industry, it is industry standard, that when a client wishes to purchase the "copyright" that the author of the work is compensated for lost marketing potential by not being able to include the work in their "portfolio".

I will be providing a copyright disclosure that I will require all clients to read and sign, to insure that there is no confusion on the services that are being provided.
